Having experienced more Christmases than most, 102 year-old Lockerbie-born Elizabeth Dryden, latterly from Kinghorn, was the ideal resident to be invited to switch on the festive lights display at the Methven House Care Home in Bennochy Road, Kirkcaldy, at the weekend. (4/12/2009)
Born in 1907 Elizabeth and her fellow residents were joined at the switch-on by youngsters from the Kingdom Kiddies Nursery in nearby Sang Road.
Elizabeth spent a lot of her adult life out in Australia, having first moved out there in 1950, but came back to live in Helensburgh and subsequently Kinghorn before moving in to Methven House in 2005.
"Elizabeth is a very special lady," said Methven House Manager Susan Connell, "and is a fantastic story-teller so we always look forward to her sharing her memories with us of Christmases gone by - and nobody can deny Elizabeth has more Christmases than most people to remember."
